Preparation
- Pat the salmon dry and season both sides with garlic powder, black pepper, and paprika if using. Let rest at room temperature for about 5 minutes.
- In a bowl, whisk together brown sugar, soy sauce, melted butter, and honey until smooth.
Cooking
- For the skillet method, heat a nonstick or stainless steel skillet over medium-high heat. For the oven method, preheat to 400°F and line a baking sheet with foil.
- Skillet: Place salmon skin-side down and cook for 4 to 5 minutes. Flip and cook for an additional 2 to 4 minutes. Oven: Roast skin-side down for 8 to 12 minutes based on thickness.
- Spoon or brush the glaze over the salmon in the last 1 to 2 minutes of cooking. Broil for 30 to 60 seconds for extra caramelization if desired.
- Transfer to a plate and let rest for 2 minutes. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley and serve.

Notes
Let the salmon sit 5 minutes at room temperature before cooking for even cooking. Use a heavy skillet for even heat in the skillet method. Watch the broiler closely if you broil for caramelization — it browns fast. Adjust glaze amounts for larger fillets.
