Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 0.5 cups unsalted butter, melted and cooled slightly
  • 0.25 cups vegetable oil Can substitute with more butter
  • 0.75 cups granulated sugar Brown sugar can be used for deeper flavor
  • 2 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1.5 cups mashed ripe bananas (about 3-4 medium bananas) Always use ripe bananas for best results
Add-ins
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips Can substitute with dark or white chocolate

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan and line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set this aside for later.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the melted butter, oil, sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract. Whisk until fully combined.
  4. Add in the mashed bananas, mixing until incorporated smoothly.
  5. Gently stir in the dry ingredient mixture until it’s just combined – be careful not to overmix!
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips, ensuring an even distribution without overworking the batter.
  7. Pour the batter into your prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
Baking
  1. Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a skewer inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  2. Let the bread cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
