Preparation
- Soften the cream cheese at room temperature for 15–20 minutes so it blends smoothly.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with the sweetened condensed milk until smooth and lump-free.
- Add the French vanilla pudding mix and 2 cups milk. Whisk until everything is fully combined and thickened.
Layering
- In a large serving dish or trifle bowl, make the first layer: arrange a single layer of vanilla wafers.
- Add a layer of sliced bananas, then a layer of sliced strawberries evenly over the wafers.
- Pour half of the pudding mixture over the fruit and wafers. Spread it gently to cover.
- Repeat the layers: another layer of wafers, bananas, and strawberries.
- Pour the remaining pudding mixture over the top layer and smooth it out.
- Spread the whipped topping evenly over the final layer.
- Refrigerate for at least 4 hours to allow the wafers to soften and the dessert to set.

Notes
Store covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. The dessert is best on day 1–2; by day 3 the wafers will be very soft. Do not freeze once assembled.
