Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 bag Doritos Choose your preferred flavor, such as Cool Ranch or Nacho Cheese.
  • 1 lb ground beef or turkey Use ground turkey for a leaner option.
  • 1 packet taco seasoning Use mild or hot seasoning based on desired heat.
  • 1 cup lettuce, chopped Use your choice of leafy greens.
  • 1 cup tomatoes, diced Fresh tomatoes are preferred for better flavor.
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded Use mild or sharp cheddar based on preference.
  • 1/2 cup black beans, rinsed and drained Rinse well to avoid extra sodium.
  • 1/2 cup corn, canned or frozen (thawed) Pat dry if using frozen to avoid excess moisture.
  • 1/2 cup sour cream Keep on the side for individual serving.
  • 1/4 cup salsa Use your favorite variety.

Method

Cooking the Meat
  1. Place the ground beef or turkey in a skillet over medium heat and break it into small pieces as it cooks.
  2. Cook until no longer pink, stirring occasionally. For safety, ensure ground beef reaches an internal temperature of 160°F and ground turkey reaches 165°F.
  3. If using beef, drain any excess fat to reduce greasiness.
  4. Stir in the taco seasoning and the specified amount of water from the packet, then simmer until most of the liquid has evaporated and the meat clings to the seasoning.
Assembling the Salad
  1. In a large bowl, toss together the lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, black beans, corn, and sour cream.
  2. Serve the warm seasoned meat over the chilled salad components and allow guests to combine them.

Notes

For best results, brown the meat in batches if needed, rinse beans well, and store warm meat separately from salad components.
