Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 baking dish.
- Toss the chopped apples with ½ cup brown sugar, ¼ cup flour, vanilla extract, 1 tsp cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Pour the mixture into the greased dish.
Topping
- In a bowl, mix the remaining ¾ cup flour, ¾ cup brown sugar, and 1 tsp cinnamon.
- Cut in the cold butter until the mixture looks crumbly.
- Stir in the rolled oats and evenly spread the topping over the apple mixture in the baking dish.
Baking
- Bake for 45 minutes or until the apples are tender and the topping is golden and bubbly.
- Cool for 5 minutes and serve warm with ice cream or drizzle with caramel.
