Ingredients

For the Honey Garlic Sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey Can substitute with maple syrup or sugar-free sweetener.
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce Use tamari or gluten-free coconut aminos for gluten-free.
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
For the Shrimp
  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined Thawed if previously frozen.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil Can substitute with avocado oil for higher smoke point.
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: green onions for garnish
  • Optional: steamed rice, cauliflower rice, or vegetables for serving

Method

Preparation
  1. In a small bowl, combine the honey, soy sauce, and minced garlic. Stir until smooth and set aside.
  2. Warm a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the olive oil. Let it shimmer but not smoke.
Cooking
  1. Pat the shrimp dry and season lightly with salt and pepper. Add them to the hot skillet in a single layer. Cook for 2–3 minutes, stirring or flipping once, until the shrimp turn pink and opaque. Do not overcook.
  2. Pour the honey-garlic mixture over the shrimp. Stir continuously for 1–2 minutes so the sauce thickens slightly and coats each piece.
  3. Remove from heat. Scatter sliced green onions over the shrimp if using. Serve immediately with steamed rice or vegetables.
