Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb ground turkey (93/7 or 85/15) Leaner cooks faster but can dry out.
  • 3 to 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup honey Reduce to 3 tablespoons for a less sweet glaze.
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce Substitute tamari for gluten-free.
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar Can swap for apple cider vinegar in a pinch.
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • to taste red pepper flakes, optional
  • 2 stalks green onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon neutral oil for sautéing (vegetable, canola, or avocado oil)

Method

Preparation
  1. Mince the garlic and thinly slice the green onions.
  2. Whisk the honey, soy sauce, and rice vinegar together in a small bowl and set aside.
Cooking
  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the neutral oil.
  2. Add the ground turkey to the hot pan. Break it up with a spatula and let it brown undisturbed for about 2 minutes to develop color.
  3. Continue to cook and stir the turkey until no pink remains, about 5–7 minutes total.
  4. Push the turkey to one side of the skillet. Add the minced garlic to the empty space and cook for 20–30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Mix the garlic into the turkey so the flavor distributes evenly.
  6. Pour the honey-soy mixture over the turkey and let it simmer for 2–3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  7. Stir in the sesame oil and add red pepper flakes if using. Taste and adjust seasoning with a pinch of salt or more soy sauce if needed.
  8. Remove from heat, sprinkle with the sliced green onions, and let the pan sit for a minute to thicken the glaze.
