Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, add the ground beef, breadcrumbs, diced onion, egg, milk, salt, and black pepper. Gently mix with your hands or a spoon until evenly combined, being careful not to overwork the mix.
- Shape the mixture into a compact loaf and set it in a baking dish or on a lined sheet pan.
- Whisk together the ketchup, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce in a small bowl. Spoon or brush the glaze evenly over the top of the loaf.
Cooking
- Bake for about 1 hour, or until a meat thermometer inserted into the center reads 160°F (70°C).
- Remove from the oven and let the meatloaf rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing.
