  • 1 lb ground beef Use lean ground beef to reduce fat.
  • 4 medium potatoes, sliced Any type of potatoes can be used.
  • 1 cup shredded cheese Cheddar or pepper jack work well.
  • 1 cup fried onions Provides crunch and flavor.
  • 1 medium onion, chopped Yellow onion preferred.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Fresh garlic enhances flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon paprika For added flavor.
  • 1 cup beef broth Low-sodium recommended.
  • to taste salt and pepper Adjust according to preference.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, brown the ground beef with the chopped onions and minced garlic. Drain any excess fat.
  3. In a large casserole dish, layer the sliced potatoes on the bottom.
  4. Add the cooked ground beef mixture on top of the potatoes.
  5. Sprinkle paprika, salt, and pepper over the layers.
  6. Pour the beef broth over everything.
  7. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  8. After 45 minutes, remove the foil and sprinkle cheese and fried onions on top.
  9. Bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is melted.
  10. Let it cool slightly before serving.
