Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 medium green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced (optional) Optional ingredient
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Black pepper
  • 4 slices provolone cheese
  • 4 pieces hoagie rolls
  • for cooking olive oil, drizzle

Method

Preparation
  1. Heat a drizzle of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the sliced onions and bell peppers. Sauté for 3-5 minutes until they become tender. If adding mushrooms, toss them in now and continue cooking for another 3 minutes.
  3. Push the veggies to one side of the skillet and add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until the beef is no longer pink.
  4. Stir in the garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix everything well and cook for an additional 2 minutes.
  5. Lower the heat and layer the provolone cheese over the beef mixture. Cover the skillet to let the cheese melt for 2-3 minutes.
  6. Slice the hoagie rolls lengthwise. Spoon the beef and vegetable mixture into each roll, serve hot, and consider toasting the rolls for an extra crispy texture.
