Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, add the ground beef, breadcrumbs, eggs, chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Use your hands or a fork to combine until just mixed. Do not overwork the meat.
- Shape the mixture gently into a loaf about 8 inches long and place it in a baking dish or loaf pan.
Glaze and Baking
- In a small bowl, whisk the glaze: ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, and mustard until smooth.
- Spread the glaze over the top of the meatloaf evenly and generously.
- Bake for about 1 hour, or until a meat thermometer inserted into the center reads 160°F (70°C). If the top browns too quickly, tent loosely with foil.
- Remove from the oven and let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing.

Notes
Resting after baking keeps slices from falling apart and lets juices redistribute. If using very lean ground beef, add 1 tablespoon olive oil or a splash of milk to keep the loaf moist. For variation, consider adding cheese or making mini loaves in muffin tins.
