Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x9-inch baking pan.
- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat.
- Remove from heat and stir in the sugar, eggs, and vanilla until well mixed.
- Beat in the cocoa, flour, salt, and baking powder until combined.
- Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan.
- If desired, sprinkle chocolate chips on top.
Baking
- Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, checking to ensure not to overcook.
- The toothpick should come out with a few moist crumbs.
- Allow to cool before cutting into squares.
