  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened Room temperature for easiest mixing
  • 3-4 ounces slices of dried beef, finely chopped
  • 2 pieces green onions, thinly sliced (white and green parts)
  • 1-2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional) Adds color and tang
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans for coating (optional) Use walnuts or crushed crackers as substitutes

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Place the cream cheese on the counter for 20–30 minutes until easily spreadable.
  2. Chop the dried beef into small pieces and slice the green onions thinly.
Mixing
  1. In a medium bowl, stir together the softened cream cheese, chopped dried beef, green onions, Worcestershire sauce, and seasoned salt until smooth and uniform.
  2. Taste and adjust Worcestershire or seasoned salt if needed.
  3. Fold in shredded cheddar if you want extra sharpness and color.
Shaping
  1. Use a spoon or spatula to mound the mixture, then form it into a neat ball with lightly oiled hands or by wrapping in plastic wrap and shaping.
  2. Roll the ball in chopped pecans if using, pressing gently to adhere.
  3. Wrap tightly and chill for at least 1 hour to firm up.
Serving
  1. Serve chilled with crackers, sliced baguette, or crisp veggies.

Notes
