  • 4 pieces boneless, skinless chicken breasts Ensure they are thawed if previously frozen.
  • 2 cups marinara sauce Store-bought or homemade as per preference.
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese For topping.
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese For topping.
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning Optional, for added flavor.
  • to taste Salt and pepper For seasoning.
  • Cooked pasta for serving Spaghetti or penne recommended.
  • Fresh basil for garnish Optional, for a fresh touch.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper on both sides.
  2. Layer the seasoned chicken in the crockpot.
  3. Pour marinara sauce evenly over the chicken.
Cooking
  1. Cover and cook on low for 6-7 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
  2. About 30 minutes before cooking is finished, sprinkle mozzarella and parmesan cheese on top, cover, and allow to melt.

Notes

For the best results, marinate the chicken in marinara sauce for a few hours before cooking. If the sauce is too thick, add a splash of chicken broth. For a crispy topping, broil briefly after cooking.
