Dough Ingredients
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar for dough
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons butter or plant-based spread for dairy-free version
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Coating
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar for coating
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon for coating

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Combine the water, butter, 2 tablespoons sugar, and salt in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
  2. Remove the pan from the heat and immediately stir in the flour with a wooden spoon until a smooth dough forms.
  3. Let the dough cool for 5 minutes.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time until the dough is smooth and glossy.
  5. Stir in the vanilla extract until evenly mixed.
Cooking
  1. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Pipe small 1-inch rounds onto a sheet of parchment paper.
  3. Transfer the parchment with the piped bites into the air fryer basket and lightly spray the tops with cooking spray.
  4. Air fry for 8 to 10 minutes, checking at 8 minutes to avoid over-browning.
  5. Remove churro bites from the air fryer and toss them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture while hot.
