Ingredients

For the dough
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 package active dry yeast (2 1/4 tsp)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup whole milk warm
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 2 large eggs at room temperature
For the filling
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter for spreading
For the icing
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2-4 tbsp milk to achieve desired consistency

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes or until it’s frothy.
  2. In another bowl, mix together flour, sugar, and salt.
  3. Add the yeast mixture, eggs, and melted butter to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough for 5-7 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a warm area and let it rise for approximately 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
Rolling and Shaping
  1. Roll the dough out into a rectangle. Spread with softened butter, sprinkle evenly with brown sugar and cinnamon.
  2. Roll the dough tightly and cut it into 12 equal pieces.
  3. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish and let them rise again for 30-45 minutes.
Baking
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
Icing
  1. For the icing, mix powdered sugar with enough milk to achieve your desired consistency and drizzle it over the warm rolls.
