Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for dusting, optional) Can be omitted if desired.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the brown sugar and softened butter until the mixture is smooth and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well-combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing gently until just combined; avoid overmixing to ensure soft cookies.
  6. Use a spoon to drop rounded dollops of dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  7. Bake for about 10-12 minutes, or until you see the edges set and the tops turn a light golden brown.
  8. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. If you like, dust the cooled cookies with powdered sugar before serving for an elegant touch.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. Freeze them in a single layer for longer storage, and thaw before enjoying. For best results, use softened butter and let the dough chill for better texture.
