  • 1 lb beef, sliced thinly Flank steak or sirloin can be used.
  • 2 cups broccoli florets Fresh or thawed frozen broccoli can be used.
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil Can substitute with canola oil for higher smoke point.
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce Use gluten-free tamari for a gluten-free version.
  • 1/4 cup beef broth Ensure gluten-free if needed.
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • Hot rice (for serving) Recommended to serve over steamed rice.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, mix together soy sauce, beef broth, cornstarch, sugar, and sesame oil to create the sauce.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat.
Cooking
  1. Add the sliced beef to the pan. Stir-fry until it’s nicely browned.
  2. Toss in the minced garlic and broccoli florets, cooking everything for about 2-3 minutes until the broccoli turns bright green and tender-crisp.
  3. Pour the prepared sauce over the beef and broccoli. Stir well to ensure everything is coated. Continue cooking until the sauce thickens slightly.
  4. Serve the dish hot over a bed of fluffy rice.

Notes
